FOR SALE near Matlock UK
Nov 2002 Honda XR650L, 20,000km - now £1795

This XRL was one of three imported from Australia for Desert Riders (as seen on National Geographic Channel).
After D. Riders Jon commuted it for a bit then it stood around apart from use as a pace bike on a couple of my Sahara bike tours:

It comes complete with the now unobtainable 38 litre Acerbis tank, Overland Solutions racking/frame bracing which alone would set you back at least £1000.

Also includes:

Michelin Desert tyres, less than half worn
DID o-ring chain (or similar) with sprox in great shape
Spare rear tube
Original front springs with a firmer K-Tech set available
Indicators - removed from new
Renthal bar on raised mounts
Acerbis rally guards
New battery in August
Twin Air foam air filter (plus original paper element removed from new)
CRD bash plate
Original tool set, handbooks, etc
Widened kickstand foot
OE fender pouch (removed from new)
Other spares (see pic below)
A3 sheet of 5mm perspex to make a screen
Seat just recovered in thick black vinyl

I bought it off Jon in August but then a nice new Tenere came my way.
It's been SORN for years so needs MoT and the clutch is a bit grabby - clutch basket fingers need filing, Jon reckons. The speedo is a bit dusty under the screen (get one of these) and one mirror is cracked (see pic) but I'll chuck in a copy of the Desert Riders dvd so you can see the bike in action.

I did a 100 miles on it coming back from David Lambeth's (replaced the carb body which gummed up from standing around) and it runs just as well as it's done in the desert these last few years. Great engine, suspension and brakes. We ran them all on Bel Ray semi-synthetic after running in. This is a great desert bike or an overlander. At 65mpg (the best we got) it's good for nearly 550 miles (over 800km).

The bike and logbook are currently near Matlock - call Matt on 01629 55855 to have a look.
